Parabolic Microphone 300 - Parabolic Dish for Rode Lavalier GO
Parabolic Microphone 300 is designed for people who record in the field. With a 300 mm parabolic dish, it provides a clear directional advantage for bird and wildlife sound recording while staying compact enough to carry all day.
At this diameter, the dish begins providing useful acoustic gain from 1khz upward, with increasingly strong directionality through the core bird vocalisation range. The result is improved subject isolation, reduced off-axis noise, and cleaner recordings without the bulk of larger parabolic systems.
The microphone sits recessed below the rim of the dish to reduce wind impact, aided by rounded dish edges that help smooth airflow.
The carbon fibre ASA construction integrates the dish, boom arm, and handle into a rigid, durable structure designed for real outdoor use. The TPU grip allows comfortable one-handed operation, even with a phone or audio recorder mounted directly to the microphone body.
A 1/4-20 female thread at the base of the handle allows mounting to tripods or your camera via a hotshoe adaptor. A rear-facing 1/4-20 male accessory mount lets you attach a phone holder or compact audio recorder where you can see levels and recording status while aiming the dish.
This is a field tool first: lightweight, robust, and designed to get out of the way so you can focus on sound.
What’s included
1 × Parabolic Microphone 300 body (fully assembled)
1 × 1/4-20 mounting bolts and allen key for phone holder or audio recorder
What you’ll need
Audio recorder (with accessible 1/4-20 tripod socket on a flat surface) or smartphone.
(If using a smartphone) USB-C to TRS 3.5 mm microphone interface (example)
(If using a smartphone) Phone holder (1/4-20 compatible, must be hinged, example)
(If using mounting to camera) 1/4-20 hotshoe adaptor (example) or other arrangement
Note: The Zoom F3 audio recorder is compatible but may require a mounting plate (e.g. SmallRig MD4883) due to the recessed tripod socket.
Key Benefits
Meaningful directional gain in a compact size
300 mm dish provides practical acoustic gain and subject isolation.Wind-aware design
Recessed microphone position, rounded dish edges help to reduce wind interference in real field conditions.Comfortable long-term handling
Textured TPU grip and balanced geometry allow comfortable prolonged one-handed use, even with a mounted recording device.Integrated mounting flexibility
Base 1/4-20 thread for tripods or hot-shoe adapters, plus rear 1/4-20 mount for phones or recorders within line of sight.Built for harsh environments
Carbon Fibre ASA construction offers excellent heat resistance, UV stability, stiffness, and long-term creep resistance.Easy carry and storage
Integrated carry hole in the handle allows quick grab-and-go transport, hanging from a carabiner, hook, or pack without adding bulk. The included front cover helps to protect the microphone in storage.Field tested
Designed, iterated, and tested in real wildlife recording scenarios.
Example use cases
Birders recording calls and songs
Improve isolation of target species while reducing ambient bush and wind noise.Wildlife sound recording
Capture distant or subtle animal sounds with improved directionality and control.Birdlife surveys and documentation
Lightweight and fast to deploy for repeatable field recordings.Videographers capturing reference or sync audio
Directional pickup without the size and fragility of large parabolic systems.Handheld or tripod-mounted recording
Comfortable handheld use, or stable fixed positioning for longer recording sessions.

Safety & use
Parabolic Microphone 300 is designed for lightweight microphones and compact recording devices. Ensure all mounted accessories are securely fastened before use. Wind and weather resistance are primarily determined by the microphone used; while the recessed design offers some protection from light rain, external recording equipment should be protected as appropriate.
